Regular Season Round 9: Pato Basquete - Corinthians 75-80

There was no surprise in Pato Branco where 11th ranked Pato Basquete (5-10) was defeated by ninth ranked Corinthians (6-5) 80-75 on Tuesday. Corinthians outrebounded Pato Basquete 43-30 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pato Basquete was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Lucas Caue (205-98) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Forward Lucas Siewert (208-97, college: Colorado) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Paulo Scheuer (203-99) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Isaac Thornton (193-91, college: Fairmont St.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Pato Basquete players scored in double figures. Pato Basquete's coach Dede Barbosa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Corinthians. They maintain ninth place with 6-5 record. Pato Basquete lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Corinthians will face Caxias do Sul (#15) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
