Regular Season Round 9: Pato Basquete - Caxias do Sul 77-92

An interesting game took place in Pato Branco, where higher ranked Pato Basquete (5-10) lost at home to fifteenth ranked Caxias do Sul (2-12) 77-92 on Friday. Caxias do Sul shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Eddy Carvalho (197-87) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international power forward Shilton Santos (198-82) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Victor Leal (203-96) who recorded 6 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-0) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Caxias do Sul and four Pato Basquete players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Newly promoted Caxias do Sul maintains fifteenth place with 2-12 record. Pato Basquete lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Caxias do Sul will face higher ranked Corinthians (#9) in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
