Very expected game when 12th ranked Cerrado (7-16) lost to sixth ranked Mogi (12-9) in Brasilia 78-84 on Thursday. Mogi outrebounded Cerrado 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Fulvio de Assis (186-81) nailed 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and Wesley Alves (198-96) accounted for 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Mogi players scored in double figures. Naturalized American guard Kevin Crescenzi (193-93, college: Dartmouth) came up with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Canadian-American swingman Nicholas Wiggins (198-91, college: Z*Orangeville A's, agency: BIG) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Cerrado in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mogi. They maintain sixth place with 12-9 record. Newly promoted Cerrado keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Mogi will meet UniFacisa (#7) in the next round. Cerrado will play against Caxias do Sul (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
