Very expected game when 13th ranked Cerrado (7-18) lost to third ranked Sao Paulo (22-7) in Brasilia 80-86 on Thursday. The former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Canadian-American swingman Nicholas Wiggins (198-91, college: Z*Orangeville A's, agency: BIG) answered with 21 points and naturalized American guard Kevin Crescenzi (193-93, college: Dartmouth) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Cerrado. Cerrado's coach Bruno Lopes tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sao Paulo. They maintain third place with 22-7 record having three points less than leader Flamengo. Cerrado lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 18 games lost.
