The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo (#3) and Corinthians (#6). Corinthians was defeated at home 78-85 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-96) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (183-91) answered with 17 points and 5 assists and forward Lucas Siewert (208-97, college: Colorado) added 14 points in the effort for Corinthians. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Corinthians' coach Demetrius Ferraciu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sao Paulo (22-7) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place having three points less than leader Flamengo. Corinthians at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Sao Paulo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Corinthians will play against UniFacisa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
