No shocking result in a game when leader Rio Claro (3-0) edged 10th ranked Flamengo (1-2) in Sao Paulo 68-67 on Monday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Rio Claro forced 19 Flamengo turnovers. Strangely Flamengo outrebounded Rio Claro 44-25 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Elton Inacio (181-0) nailed 18 points for the winning side and Arthur Abreu (-2) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Rafael Rachel (205-0) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and center Matheus Maciel (207-1) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Flamengo in the defeat. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rio Claro have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Pinheiros and Bauru. Loser Flamengo dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. Rio Claro will meet Cearense (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Flamengo will play against Cerrado (#4) and hope to win that game.
