Regular Season Round 15: Rio Claro - Cerrado 73-80

An interesting game for Cerrado (6-1) which played road game in Sao Paulo against 4th placed Rio Claro (4-3). Second ranked Cerrado managed to get a 7-point victory 80-73. Cerrado brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a great evening for guard Daniel Von Haydin (194-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Chamone Silva (185-99) helped adding 20 points. Four Cerrado players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Bruno Santilli (190-0) with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Elton Partite scored 13 points. Rio Claro's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cerrado. They maintain second place with 6-1 record having seven points less than leader Pinheiros. Rio Claro at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Cerrado will play against league's leader Pinheiros in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rio Claro will play at home against Bauru and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
