Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Rio Claro (3-7) was outscored by fourth ranked Minas (7-2) in Belo Horizonte 89-61 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Gui Pereira (192-91) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. International Gui Santos (202-2) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Minas players scored in double figures. The former international Betinho Duarte (195-88) came up with 10 points and Douglas Nunes (209-87) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Rio Claro in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Minas moved-up to third place. Rio Claro lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Pato Basquete. Minas will meet Cerrado (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Rio Claro will play against the league's leader Vivo/Franca (#1) in Sao Paulo and hope to secure a win.
