The most surprising game was the first loss of Vivo/Franca (19-1) in Santa Cruz do Sul on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by sixteenth ranked U.Corinthians (6-12) 89-85. It ended at the same time the 19-game winning streak of Vivo/Franca. They outrebounded Vivo/Franca 41-27 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Guilherme Teichmann (204-83, college: Tulsa) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American MikeL Simms (196-97, college: VCU) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. U.Corinthians' coach Athos Calderaro used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-96) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and Argentinian guard Santiago Scala (187-91) scored 17 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. U.Corinthians maintains sixteenth position with 6-12 record. Vivo/Franca at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
