An interesting game was also a 39-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Vila Nova/AEGB in a game in Goiania versus Sao Jose (#2) 91-52. Sao Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vila Nova/AEGB's 30. Sao Jose forced 25 Vila Nova/AEGB turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Vila Nova/AEGB's players. The winners were led by the former international point guard Arthur Pecos (183-1994) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and naturalized Greek Dimitris Sousa (198-1994, college: UVA Wise) supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four Sao Jose players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 6 rebounds by Pezao Borges (202-1993) did not help to save the game for Vila Nova/AEGB. Center Andre Coimbra (205-1986, college: CMU) added 9 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sao Jose maintains second position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Praia, which they share with Blumenau and Tatui/AABT. Loser Vila Nova/AEGB keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Osasco and Basquete Santos. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
