The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Sao Jose's (3-4) home victory over 9th ranked Araraquara (1-5) 82-60 on Tuesday. Sao Jose looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Araraquara's players. It was a great evening for power forward Renato Carbonari (202-1987) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Dominican Nehemias Morillo (197-1992, college: S.Florida) helped adding 17 points. At the losing side guard Gustavo Scaglia (193-1993, college: Arizona W. CC) responded with 12 points and power forward Abner Moreira (206-1989, college: Idaho St.) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sao Jose moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rio Claro. Araraquara lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Sao Jose will meet at home Corinthians (#8) in the next round. Araraquara will play against Osasco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
