The most surprising game was the first loss of Caxias do Sul (1-1) in Belo Horizonte on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by thirteenth ranked Minas (2-3) 87-81. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Minas had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Wesley Ferreira (200-1995) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Humberto Silva (196-1995) responded with 23 points and Argentinian point guard Stefano Pierotti (185-1998) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Caxias do Sul's coach Rodrigo Barbosa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Minas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Paulistano and Brasilia. Caxias do Sul at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with one game lost. Minas is looking forward to face U.Corinthians (#16) in Santa Cruz do Sul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caxias do Sul will play at home against Cerrado (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
