Everything went according to plan in Belo Horizonte where tenth ranked Minas (3-3) won against 13th ranked U.Corinthians (1-3) 81-75 on Saturday. They outrebounded U.Corinthians 35-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. American forward Novar Gadson (201-1989, college: Rider) stepped up and scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Alexey Borges (185-1995) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Minas players scored in double figures. Point guard Augusto Leao (184-1998) responded with 13 points and 5 assists and Italian-Argentinian forward Federico Aguerre (203-1988) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Minas moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Paulistano and Corinthians. Loser U.Corinthians keeps the thirteenth position with three games lost. Minas will meet Cerrado (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. U.Corinthians will have a break next round.
