Regular Season Round 6: Rio Claro - UniFacisa 104-80
Date: November 17, 2022
Bottom-ranked Rio Claro managed to get a second victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Thursday night. This time they outleveled seventh-ranked UNIFACISA 104-80. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 24-point difference suggests that Rio Claro is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by UNIFACISA's players. Wesley Alves (198-1996) notched 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Rafa Oliveira (199-1993) supported him with 20 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Rio Claro players scored in double figures. Even 15 points by the former international Jimmy Oliveira (190-1990) did not help to save the game for UNIFACISA. The former international Andre Bresolin (195-1987) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rio Claro (2-5) moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser UNIFACISA dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Sao Jose. Rio Claro will meet higher ranked Pinheiros (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. UNIFACISA will play against the league's leader Vivo/Franca (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
