Very expected game in Rio de Janeiro where 12th ranked Pato (5-12) was defeated by second ranked Flamengo (15-2) 89-75 on Sunday. Flamengo outrebounded Pato 38-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international guard Gui Pereira (192-1991) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (202-1983) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Venezuelan swingman Jose Materan (196-1996) responded with 19 points and center Gabriel Novaes (208-2001) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Pato players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flamengo maintains second place with 15-2 record having four points less than leader Sesi Franca. Loser Pato dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Fortaleza. Flamengo will meet at home Pinheiros (#6) in the next round. Pato will play against Sao Jose (#10) and hope to secure a win.
