Very important is a road loss of third ranked Osasco (3-3) against fourth ranked Araraquara (3-3) on Friday night. Visiting Osasco was crushed by Araraquara in Araraquara 107-72. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Osasco's 30. Araraquara forced 19 Osasco turnovers and outrebounded them 30-11 including a 23-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Araraquara especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Osasco's players. The former international point guard Welington Santos (185-1981) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 assists for the winners and power forward Abner Moreira (206-1989, college: Idaho St.) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Araraquara players scored in double figures. Naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-1984) responded with 20 points and guard Gabriel Camargo (194-2001) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Araraquara moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Osasco. Araraquara will play against league's leader Brusque at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osasco will play against the league's leader Brusque and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
