Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Paulistano (#1) and Pinheiros (#3). Pinheiros was smashed at home by 34 points 66-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Paulistano forced 19 Pinheiros turnovers and outrebounded them 43-20 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Pinheiros' players. The winners were led by Gui Abreu (199-1999) who scored that evening 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Bruno Cardoso (197-2002) supported him with 13 points. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by point guard Adyel Borges (188-2002) did not help to save the game for Pinheiros. Center Agapy Santos (205) added 9 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Paulistano have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Loser Pinheiros dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Bauru and Sao Paulo. Paulistano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros will play against Mogi (#8) in Mogi das Cruzes and hope to secure a win.
