Pinheiros outrebounded Rio Claro 45-22 including a 24-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Agapy Samoel (205-2003) nailed 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American point guard David Sloan (183-1999, college: ETSU) accounted for 20 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Pinheiros' coach Gustavo Conti used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Stan Scott (193-1998, college: MSSU) came up with 23 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and guard Gemadinha Sacco (182-1997) added 17 points respectively for Rio Claro in the defeat. Four Rio Claro players scored in double figures.
