Minas dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Cruzeiro 's 26. Minas forced 21 Cruzeiro turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Erik McCree (202-1993, college: La Tech) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Argentinian guard Juan Arengo (185-1996) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Tulio Da Silva (203-1996, college: Missouri St.) who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Gerald Gittens Jr (183-2002, college: NMU) added 3 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Five Minas and four Cruzeiro players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
