Regular Season Round 14: Las Animas - Puerto Varas 77-84

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Las Animas (14-3) in Valdivia on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked CD Puerto Varas (11-7) 84-77. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The former international center Juan Fontena (196-87) had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Hector Gomez (188-87) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four CD Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international Claudio Naranjo (191-87) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. CD Puerto Varas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-7 record behind leader Las Animas. Las Animas at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. CD Puerto Varas are looking forward to face AB Temuco (#4) on the road in the next round.
