Regular Season Round 1: Leones - Estrella del Sur 48-35

Leones used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from 48-35 on Saturday night. Leones held Estrella del Sur to an opponent 23.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 25.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Leones forced 29 Estrella del Sur turnovers and outrebounded them 49-38 including 36 on the defensive glass. Point guard Constanza Roco (-1996) fired 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Angie Rojas (-1993) chipped in 7 points and 12 rebounds. Guadalupe Mogro (-1999) produced 12 points and 8 rebounds and Constanza Cordova (-1999) added 6 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones will meet New Crusaders in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Estrella del Sur will play against Sportiva Ita. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
