Regular Season Round 12: Espanol O. - Tomas L. 74-53
Date: July 17, 2022
Very expected game when 14th ranked Tomas L. (3-9) was smashed on the road by second ranked Espanol O. (9-2) 74-53 on Sunday. Espanol O. outrebounded Tomas L. 48-31 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) who scored that evening 22 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian center Franco Barroso (207-1994) supported him with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds by Argentinian center Leonel Rodriguez (205-1993) did not help to save the game for Tomas L.. Joaquin Contreras (-2003) added 12 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Espanol O. have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record behind leader Sportiva Italiana, which they share with Liceo PN. Tomas L. at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with nine games lost. Espanol O. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tomas L. will play against Liceo Curico (#11) and hope to secure a win.
