Caballeros outrebounded Santa Maria 46-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. American guard Vince Toftness (188-1997, college: Ecclesia) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 8 rebounds. Venezuelan point guard Eduardo Rios (182-1988) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jeanhison Rosales (-2002) replied with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Venezuelan-Colombian Jackson Zapata (198-1985) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Santa Maria. Five Caballeros and four Santa Maria players scored in double figures. Santa Maria's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win.
