Regular Season Round 18: Nejapa - Chalchuapa 86-100

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa managed to get a second victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Friday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked Nejapa 100-86. Strangely Nejapa outrebounded Chalchuapa 56-39 including a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Abraham (182-1987, college: App State) chipped in 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Alhag is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-1994, college: Lander) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists and his fellow American import Marcus Faison (196-1994, college: Salem St.) added 23 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four Nejapa players scored in double figures. Chalchuapa maintains eleventh position with 2-12 record. Nejapa lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. Chalchuapa are looking forward to face higher ranked Fantasmas (#7) in San Vicente in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nejapa will play at home against Aguila and is hoping to win this game.
