San Salvador dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 34 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Santa Ana 52-32 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Salvador looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Panamanian Alejandro Scantelbury (199-1993) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five San Salvador players scored in double figures. San Salvador's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Irving Sandoval (180-1988) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Costa Rican Luis Alfaro (-2001) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists.
