Regular Season Round 15: Opico - Teclenas 34-71

Bottom-ranked Opico (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 71-34 loss to fifth ranked Teclenas (7-6) in on Tuesday evening. They held Opico to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Opico 46-27 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Teclenas looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Opico's players. It was a great evening for center Paola Ortiz (172-2001) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Andrea Molina (164-2001) helped adding 17 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Four Teclenas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Sofia Morales (164-1999) with 8 points and Marcia Bonito scored 8 points. Teclenas moved-up to fourth place. Opico lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost. Teclenas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santa Tecla to the arena Santa Tecla Elite.
