There was no surprise when 6th rankedSantiagueno (2-5) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Batanecas (5-2) 63-51 . Batanecas outrebounded Santiagueno 49-34 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban center Rachel Contreras (184-1999) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds. Forward Nicky Ayala (171-2005) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guatemalan point guard Astrid Garcia (165-1995) answered with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Mexican Gema Roa added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Santiagueno. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Batanecas . They moved-up to third place. Santiagueno at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost.
