Regular Season Round 11: Tigrillos - San Jose 62-124

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Colombian Tigrillos (0-1) in Medellin on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Paraguayan San Jose (2-0) 124-62. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Tigrillos' 30 and made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. San Jose forced 20 Tigrillos turnovers and outrebounded them 50-29 including a 36-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for San Jose especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Tigrillos' players. American power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-1985, agency: Inception Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Argentinian forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five San Jose players scored in double figures. San Jose's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian Patricio Pinero (195-1995) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and Miguel Correa (186-1999) added 20 points and 5 steals in the effort for Tigrillos. Defending Paraguayan champion maintains first place with 2-0 record. Tigrillos at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with UniFacisa. San Jose are looking forward to face UNIFACISA (#4) in Paraiba in the next round. Tigrillos will play on the road against UNIFACISA in Paraiba and hope to get finally their first victory.
