Regular Season Round 8: Racers - Marineras 65-57

Bottom-ranked Marineras (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 65-57 loss to third ranked Racers (4-4) in Saltillo. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Racers forced 22 Marineras turnovers. The winners were led by Charisse Burruel who scored that evening 13 points and 5 rebounds and Ana Bernal supported her with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Racers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by Mayra Gil (-3) did not help to save the game for Marineras. Joselyne Padilla added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. Four Marineras players scored in double figures. Racers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Barreteras and Escaramuzas. Marineras at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Racers' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Barreteras in Zacatecas and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marineras will play on the road against Quetzales in Ciudad de Mexico and hope to get finally their first victory.
