Regular Season Round 12: Abejas - Astros 80-106

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Astros' (13-7) road victory over 4th ranked Abejas (8-12) 106-80 on Friday. Astros shot 60.9 percent from the field and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Astros outrebounded Abejas 38-26 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Astros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Avry Holmes (185-94, college: Clemson) who scored 30 points and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). International forward Jonatan Machado (200-93) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Astros players scored in double figures. Astros' coach Sergio Valdeolmillos felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: GMU, agency: Inception Sports) who recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) added 17 points respectively. Astros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Libertadores and Soles. Abejas lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Panteras and Plateros.
