Leading Las Plebes (3-7) recorded its seventh loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Mexcaltecas (5-4) 71-63. The best player for the winners was Sofia Payan (167-2000) who scored 24 points. Aide Duarte chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Mexcaltecas players scored in double figures. Mexcaltecas' coach Gerardo Guzman used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Jessica Fairweather (178-1989, college: Queens, NY) who recorded 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and her fellow American import forward Danielle Forrest-Higgins (178, college: Morgan St.) added 14 points respectively. Mexcaltecas maintains sixth position with 5-4 record. Las Plebes lost fourth consecutive game. They still keep top place with seven games lost. They share the position with Lenadoras and Algodoneras. Mexcaltecas will meet at home higher ranked Escaramuzas (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Las Plebes will play against Barreteras in Zacatecas and hope to secure a win.
