Regular Season Round 3: Mexcaltecas - Lenadoras 69-74

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Mexcaltecas (1-5) lost to Lenadoras (1-5) in Tepic 69-74 on Saturday. Lenadoras forced 21 Mexcaltecas turnovers. Strangely Mexcaltecas outrebounded Lenadoras 31-14 including a 22-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Megan Garcia (173) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Nayeli Ortiz (174-1998) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. The former international point guard Paola Beltran (164-1994) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Erika Gonzalez added 16 points respectively for Mexcaltecas in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lenadoras will meet Racers (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mexcaltecas will play against Quetzales (#4) in Ciudad de Mexico and hope to win that game.
