Regular Season Round 3: Abejas - Correcaminos 68-69

There was an upset when Abejas (1-3) were edged by Correcaminos (1-5) in Leon 69-68 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Sarah Mgbeike (185, college: OLLU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Jade Vega (165-1997, college: CS Fullerton) accounted for 17 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Venezuelan guard Waleska Perez (180-1994, college: Weatherford JC) came up with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Zada Williams (188-1996, college: Florida) added 9 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Abejas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Correcaminos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Abejas will play against Astros (#6) in Jalisco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
