Regular Season Round 9: Rojas - Abejas 85-42

Rather expected game in Veracruz where 9th ranked Abejas (2-14) were crushed by sixth ranked Rojas (9-7) 85-42 on Sunday. Rojas outrebounded Abejas 39-24 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 70.6 percentage. Rojas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Abejas' players. The best player for the winners was Bosnian-American center Lynetta Kizer (193-1990, college: Maryland) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Aurjanee Alix (168-1995, college: FSU) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Gia Pack (178-1998, college: NM State) who recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Zada Williams (188-1996, college: Florida) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rojas moved-up to fifth place. Abejas lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Correcaminos and Freseras. Rojas will meet Correcaminos (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Abejas will play against Fuerza Regia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
