There was a surprise result in Veracruz where eighth rankedSantas (4-9) defeated 4th placed Rojas (7-6) 75-71 on Thursday. Santas forced 20 Rojas turnovers. Strangely Rojas outrebounded Santas 46-25 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for swingman Jazmine Jones (183-1996, college: Louisville) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Aniya Thomas (170-2000, college: Missouri St.) helped adding 25 points and 4 steals. At the losing side forward Stasha Carey (188-1995, college: Rutgers) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Rojas' coach Oswaldo Zermeno tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Santas maintains eighth place with 4-9 record. Loser Rojas keep the fourth position with six games lost.
