There was no surprise when 14th rankedFreseras (2-8) lost to sixth ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (7-2) in Irapuato 76-81 on Saturday. Halc.Xalapa outrebounded Freseras 52-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Gabriel Giron (192-1988) who led the winners and scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Jamaican-American guard Sek Henry (193-1987, college: Nebraska) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. American forward Anthony Tarke (201-1998, college: Coppin St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Freseras in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Halc.Xalapa moved-up to fifth place. Freseras lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Halc.Rojos.
