Everything could happen in Ciudad Victoria at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Correcaminos and 7th ranked Rojas had identical 3-8 record. This time Correcaminos used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Veracruz 92-53 on Sunday night. Correcaminos dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Rojas' 32. Correcaminos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Rojas' players. American players dominated also this game. Guard Kennedy Todd-Williams (183, college: Ole Miss, agency: LBM Management) nailed 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Nia Clouden (175-2000, college: Michigan St., agency: LBM Management) accounted for 16 points and 6 assists. Five Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Correcaminos' coach Luis Garcia felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) came up with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Jayla Johnson (188, college: EKU) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Rojas in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Correcaminos. They maintain sixth place with 4-8 record. Rojas lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Correcaminos will meet at home higher ranked Freseras (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rojas will play against El Calor and hope to secure a win.
