Regular Season Round 3: Rivas - Leones MGA 79-84

No shocking result in a game when Leones MGA (2-1) beat on the road Rivas (0-4) 84-79 on Wednesday. Leones MGA made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Rivas turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Josmel Martinez (198, college: Broward CC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds. Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) accounted for 24 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Cuban Yosniel Morales (196-1987) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds and guard Fritz Cox added 21 points respectively for Rivas in the defeat. Five Rivas players scored in double figures. Rivas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leones MGA will meet Indigenas (#6) in the next round. Rivas will play against Occidentales (#8) in Chinandega and look forward to get finally their first victory.
