Regular Season Round 3: Occidentales - Jaguares 80-111

Jaguares (4-0) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed Occidentales (1-3) in Chinandega 111-80. Jaguares forced 21 Occidentales turnovers and had a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was a quality performance for American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 4 steals (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Point guard Mario Garcia (182-2000) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Four Jaguares players scored in double figures. Guard Deikel Sanchez came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Roberto Nieves (194-1982, college: Valpo) added 22 points respectively for Occidentales in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jaguares will meet at home Brumas (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Occidentales will play against Rivas (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
