We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Chinandega where 8th ranked Indigenas (3-13) were defeated by ninth ranked Occidentales (3-14) 81-71 on Wednesday. Occidentales forced 20 Indigenas turnovers. Strangely Indigenas outrebounded Occidentales 50-35 including 35 on the offensive glass. Puerto Rican guard Roberto Nieves (194-1982, college: Valpo) stepped up and scored 31 points and 4 assists for the winners and guard Deikel Sanchez chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dominican Jose Espinal responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and guard Reynaldo Pastora scored 15 points. Indigenas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Occidentales maintains ninth place with 3-14 record. Indigenas lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost.
