Regular Season Round 12: Rivas - UNI Basket 87-74

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked UNI Basket (4-6) lost on the road to ninth ranked Rivas (2-8) 87-74 on Tuesday. Rivas forced 19 UNI Basket turnovers. The winners were led by Puerto Rican guard Eliel Gonzalez (188-1995, college: NC A&T) who scored that evening 31 points and 8 rebounds and Kender Ibarra supported him with 21 points. Even a double-double of 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks by American forward Tyler Morman (206-1997, college: Southern Miss) did not help to save the game for UNI Basket. His fellow American import forward Jayson Brower (195-1996, college: John Jay) added 22 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rivas moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Indigenas. Loser UNI Basket keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Rivas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. UNI Basket will play against Brumas (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
