No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Real Esteli (11-4) beat at home bottom-ranked Tigres (2-13) 93-78 on Sunday. Real Esteli forced 21 Tigres turnovers and outrebounded them 48-37 including a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American-Puerto Rican Christopher Gaston (201-1989, college: Fordham) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Puerto Rican guard Isaiah Palermo (196-2000, college: UALR) supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Five Real Esteli players scored in double figures. Even 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Puerto Rican guard Jose Perez (188-1999) did not help to save the game for Tigres. Cuban Emmanuel Calderon (198-1998) added 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Real Esteli have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Leones. Tigres lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost.
