Regular Season Round 9: Tipitapa - Jass 90-75

There was no surprise when 14th rankedJass (4-6) lost to leader Tipitapa (7-0) in Managua 75-90 on Sunday. Tipitapa dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Jass ' 40. Tipitapa forced 23 Jass turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. The former international center Roger Munoz (208-1984, college: Trinity Valley) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Kevin Alvarado (180-1998) accounted for 20 points and 6 assists. Four Tipitapa players scored in double figures. Michael Lampson came up with 7 points and 18 rebounds and Jovanni Serrano added 22 points respectively for Jass in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Tipitapa . They moved-up to third place, which they share with Brumas. Jass lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Leones and Hurricane.
