The game had a very big importance for third-rankedBrumas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Brumas smashed 14th ranked Leones in Jinotega 91-71 . Brumas forced 19 Leones turnovers and outrebounded them 38-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. Brumas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international Juan Herrera (187-1996) scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Rafael Mendoza (171-2001) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. Four Brumas players scored in double figures. At the losing side Rogelio Bermudez (-2003) responded with 14 points and Lindell Downs scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brumas (10-0) have an impressive ten-game winning streak.
