Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Managua:Jaguares (#3) and Leonas (#4). Jaguares (5-3) won against visiting Leonas (0-9) 65-54 . Jaguares held Leonas to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Jaguares forced 20 Leonas turnovers and outrebounded them 62-49 including 44 on the offensive glass. Jaguares players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Sharon Watson who led the winners and scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Andrea Suarez accounted for 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American center Anyia Pride (185-1998, college: Shawnee St., agency: Ladies 1st) came up with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Junieth Murillo added 3 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for Leonas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 5-3 record behind leader Nicaragua Femenil. Leonas at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost.
