Correcaminos (3-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed LA U (1-3) in Panama City 87-59. Correcaminos dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to LA U's 40. They outrebounded LA U 57-36 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Correcaminos made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was Colombian power forward Tathiana Mosquera (197-89) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 26 rebounds and 5 blocks. Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-86) chipped in 22 points and 5 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Diobelis Batista (167-5) who recorded 22 points and 9 rebounds and Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Correcaminos will meet Amazonas (#4) in the next round. LA U's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Panama City Atletico.
