LPB top team - Correcaminos (5-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Atletico (1-5) in Panama City 80-44. Correcaminos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Atletico's 28. They outrebounded Atletico 59-30 including a 23-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Colombian power forward Tathiana Mosquera (197-89) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds to lead the effort and Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-86) supported her with 18 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 5 rebounds by Monica Lammie did not help to save the game for Atletico. Point guard Bianca Galagarza (160) added 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Correcaminos have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 5-0 record. Atletico lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with five games lost. Correcaminos will play against Aguilas (#5) in Panama City in the next round. Atletico's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Panteras.
