An exciting game was played in Asuncion. Olimpia faced Ciudad Nueva. Host Olimpia (5-1) defeated guests from (3-4) 57-45. It was a good game for the former international forward Astrid Huttemann (180-92, college: Union, TN) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Johanna Ghiringhelli (168-86) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Paloma Niz (175-99) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and the former international center Adela Cardenas (180-99) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Ciudad Nueva. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olimpia will play against Everest (#4) in the next round. Ciudad Nueva will play against Felix Perez in Asuncion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
