Regular Season Round 8: San Jose - Atletico C. 119-60

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#1) and Atletico C. (#6). San Jose (8-0) smashed visiting Atletico C. (2-6) by 59 points 119-60. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Atletico C.'s 32. San Jose forced 22 Atletico C. turnovers and outrebounded them 56-28 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Atletico C.'s players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Vincenzo Ochipinti (191-1999) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Alen Juarez who added 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four San Jose players scored in double figures. San Jose's coach Daniel Cano felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alejandro Acosta responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Brahian Amarilla scored 9 points. San Jose have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record. Atletico C. lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with six games lost. San Jose's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Sol de America.
