Fifth-ranked Gigantes (5-25) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Piratas (18-13) in Carolina. The visitors from Quebradillas managed to secure only one-point victory 110-109. However their fans expected easier game. The former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Central African-American power forward James Mays (205-86, college: Clemson) contributed with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International center Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and American point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) added 24 points and 5 assists in the effort for Gigantes. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Piratas moved-up to second place, which they share with Ponce. Gigantes lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 25 games lost.
